Rail communication between Sylhet and the rest of the country was restored after about four hours. Rail movement became normal after six coaches of the intercity Paharika Express lying in Lawachara forest were recovered around 5:30pm on Friday, October 2.

Earlier, around 1:30pm, six coaches of the Sylhet-Chattogram-bound intercity Paharika Express (720) became detached after its hook snapped in the Lawachara National Park area of Kamalganj upazila in Moulvibazar. The train then went to Sreemangal Railway Station with six coaches along with the engine.

Sreemangal Railway Station Master Shakhawat Hossain confirmed the matter.

He said that around 1:30pm, the clip after six coaches in the middle of the Chattogram-bound Paharika Express (720) snapped. As a result, the six rear coaches became detached and remained lying inside Lawachara forest. Later, an alternative engine was brought to recover these coaches.
