Rain forecast for Dhaka, temperature likely to remain unchanged

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thundershowers in Dhaka and surrounding areas on Sunday (September 6), while the daytime temperature is likely to remain largely unchanged.

The department’s Storm Warning Centre said in a six-hour forecast valid from 7am, the sky over Dhaka and nearby areas may remain partly cloudy to temporarily cloudy, with rain or thundershowers possible.

Winds may blow from the south or southeast at 8-12 kilometres per hour during the period, the forecast said.

Dhaka recorded a temperature of 28.5°C at 6am on Sunday, with relative humidity at 88 percent. The minimum temperature was 28°C, while Saturday’s maximum temperature was 33°C. Light rainfall was also recorded in the capital over the previous 24 hours.

The sun is expected to set in Dhaka at 6:12pm on Sunday and rise at 5:42am on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department said no warning signal had been issued for the country’s inland river ports from 5am to 1pm Sunday, meaning the ports do not need to display any signal during the period.
