Rain likely across Bangladesh for next 5 days including Dhaka

Light rain began in the capital city of Dhaka around 11:30am on Wednesday (July 22). Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has announced that rainfall is likely to continue across Dhaka and various regions of the country over the next five days, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in several divisions.

In its five-day forecast published at 9am on Wednesday (July 22), the BMD stated that light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely in most places across the Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions today. Rain is also expected in many places across Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, and Sylhet divisions. Heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur in parts of the Barishal and Chattogram divisions, while day and night temperatures across the country are expected to remain nearly unchanged.

The rainfall trend is expected to continue on Thursday. According to the forecast, rain may occur in most places across the Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions, and at many places across the Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions. Heavy to very heavy rain is likely in parts of Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram. Day temperatures may decrease slightly, while night temperatures will remain largely unchanged.

For Friday, the BMD has forecast rain across all eight divisions. Light to moderate rain is expected in most places across the Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions, as well as many places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions. Moderate to heavy rainfall is also likely in various parts of the country.

Similar weather conditions are expected to prevail on Saturday. Rain may occur in many areas across the Khulna, Barishal, and Sylhet divisions, and at a few places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Chattogram divisions, with heavy rainfall expected in some areas.

The rainy spell is likely to continue on Sunday as well. The forecast indicates light to moderate rain in many places across the Khulna, Barishal, and Sylhet divisions, and in a few places in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Chattogram divisions, alongside the possibility of moderate to heavy rain in parts of the country.

The Meteorological Department noted that heavy rainfall could cause temporary waterlogging in low-lying areas. Consequently, the public has been advised to avoid unnecessary outdoor trips and to stay updated with the latest local weather forecasts.
