Rain likely across parts of country
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain and thundershowers in various parts of the country over the next 24 hours.
According to weather bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds and lightning flashes, are likely to occur across most regions on Tuesday (June 9).
The precipitation will primarily impact many places over the Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions. A few areas across the Rangpur, Dhaka, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions will also experience rainfall, while one or two places over the Rajshahi and Khulna divisions are expected to see similar weather conditions. The Met Office added that moderately heavy to heavy rainfall could occur in isolated pockets across the country during this period.
Meanwhile, both day and night temperatures are expected to rise slightly across the nation. A mild heatwave is currently sweeping over the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Nilphamari, Chuadanga, and Khulna, and meteorologists warn that it may spread further into neighboring areas.
According to yesterday's recorded data, the country's highest temperature peaked at 37.2 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi, while the minimum temperature today dropped to 22.5 degrees Celsius in Sylhet. For residents in the capital, the sun is scheduled to set at 6:45pm today and will rise at 5:10am tomorrow.
