Rain, thunderstorms likely across country: Met Office
The Meteorological Department has forecast rain with thunderstorms in all divisions of the country over the next 24 hours. The department also said there is no possibility of any change in temperature.
The weather forecast was issued on Monday, September 7.
It said between 9am on Monday and 9am on Tuesday, many areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Barishal and Chattogram divisions, and some areas of Dhaka, Khulna and Sylhet divisions, may experience temporary gusty winds with light to moderate rain or thundershowers. Parts of the country may also experience moderate to heavy rainfall. Day and night temperatures across the country may remain almost unchanged.
The weather office said the axis of the monsoon trough extends from Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal to Assam through the northern part of Bangladesh. One of its extensions extends to the northern Bay of Bengal. The monsoon is moderately active over Bangladesh and moderate over the northern Bay of Bengal.
Meanwhile, the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours was recorded in Madaripur at 74 millimetres. The highest temperature during the same period was recorded in Jashore at 33.8 degrees Celsius.
