Rain, thunderstorms likely across most parts of country
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain and thunderstorms across most parts of the country over the next 24 hours.
In its 24-hour bulletin issued from 6pm Thursday (June 18), the Met Office said many areas of Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, along with some parts of Rajshahi and Khulna, are likely to experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds.
It also warned of isolated places receiving moderate to heavy rainfall.
The Met Office said a trough of low pressure extends from Gangetic West Bengal to the northwestern Bay of Bengal, while the monsoon remains moderately active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate over the northern Bay of Bengal.
Similar conditions are expected in the next 24 hours from Friday evening, with widespread rain or thundershowers likely across the country and temperatures expected to remain nearly unchanged.
