Rain, thunderstorms with 60-kmph gusty winds likely in 8 regions including Dhaka
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thundershowers in Dhaka and surrounding areas on Sunday (August 30), with skies likely to remain partly cloudy to overcast.
According to the met office, the weather could remain largely unchanged in terms of daytime temperature, while winds may blow from the south or southeast at 10-15 kmph, the department said in a forecast valid for six hours from 7am.
The department recorded 27.2°C in Dhaka at 6am, with relative humidity at 93 percent. The capital received 13mm of rain in the previous 24 hours, while the minimum temperature was 26.9°C. The highest temperature recorded in Dhaka on Saturday was 35.4°C.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a cautionary signal for inland river ports in eight regions—Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet.
Between 5am and 1pm, gusty winds from the south or southeast may reach 45-60 kmph in these areas, accompanied by rain or thundershowers.
River ports in the regions have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal No. 1.
The department said rain and thundershowers may continue in different parts of the country over the next few days, with moderate to heavy rainfall possible in some areas.
