Rain with gusty winds likely across several parts of country
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast gusty winds and rainfall across several parts of the country, warning that strong winds could sweep through eight regions by Friday afternoon (May 29).
According to the latest inland river port forecast issued by the weather office, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Cumilla and Sylhet regions may experience temporary gusty or squally winds blowing from the west or northwest at speeds of 45 to 60 kilometres per hour.
Authorities have advised river ports in the affected areas to hoist cautionary signal number one.
In a separate forecast valid through Thursday evening, the meteorological department said light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds are likely at isolated places over Dhaka Division and Chattogram Division, as well as in parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal and Sylhet divisions.
The forecast also warned of moderate to moderately heavy rainfall at some locations across the country.
Meanwhile, both daytime and nighttime temperatures are expected to rise slightly nationwide.
Meteorologists say the anticipated rainfall may bring temporary relief from the prevailing heat in some areas, though authorities have urged caution for river transport and outdoor activities due to the risk of strong winds and thunderstorms.
