Rain with gusty winds likely in 7 districts before noon

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a warning for rain with gusty winds in seven districts before noon on Sunday (September 14).

The affected areas include Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, and Cox’s Bazar.

In a notification, signed by meteorologist Dr. Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallick in this morning, the BMD stated that, temporary gusty winds with speeds of 45 to 60 km/h, likely to occur between 5am and 1pm. Lightning may also accompany the rain in some areas.

Aadditionally, river ports in the affected regions have been instructed to display cautionary signal number 1 due to the potential risk to river navigation.

The Meteorological Department cautioned vessels and passengers to exercise caution during this time.

Residents of coastal areas have been advised to remain on alert, particularly those in open areas, to protect themselves from lightning.

While the storm is expected to be brief, it may intensify quickly, and people have been urged to follow the warning signals closely.
