The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds of up to 60 km/h over eight districts, prompting authorities to issue Local Cautionary Signal No. 1 for the affected river ports.

The warning, issued on Thursday (July 16), will remain valid from 5:00am to 1:00pm for inland river ports across the country.

According to the BMD, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and Sylhet are likely to experience temporary gusty or squally winds from the south or southeast at speeds of 45–60 km/h, accompanied by rain or thundershowers.

In view of the adverse weather, the meteorological office has instructed river ports in the affected regions to hoist Local Cautionary Signal No. 1 and advised vessels to remain vigilant while operating.

The weather office is continuing to monitor the evolving conditions and may issue further advisories if necessary.
