Rajshahi DC holds regular public hearings to resolve citizen grievances
With the motto of "Administration for Public Service," the Rajshahi District Administration is holding regular public hearings to listen to people's grievances and take prompt action. Every Wednesday at 11am, Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam listens attentively to the public at the conference room of the DC office and provides necessary assistance.
People are coming to the DC with various personal and social issues, including land disputes, medical expenses and allowances, education stipends and house repairs. Many have expressed relief and optimism at being able to speak directly to the DC about their problems.
Shamima Sultana came to seek assistance for her husband's medical treatment. She said, "I never imagined I could meet the DC so easily. He listened to me attentively and provided immediate help for my husband's treatment. I have benefited greatly."
Md Shahjahan Ali came to report problems with his residence. He said water had been leaking through various parts of his house for a long time. Despite contacting many places, he received no help. After presenting the matter at the DC's public hearing, arrangements were made to repair his house.
A student came to the DC seeking help to buy books. The student said, "I came for books. I never thought sir would listen to me and help me buy books. He also told me to stay in touch if I need anything in the future."
People attending the public hearing said their trust in the administration has grown because the DC listens to them directly and takes prompt action. They believe such initiatives play an important role in delivering government services to the doorstep of ordinary citizens.
Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam said, "The primary duty of government officials is to ensure service to the people. When someone comes to the administration with a problem, it is our responsibility to listen attentively and take swift action within the rules. Through public hearings, people can directly voice their concerns. The district administration is always working sincerely to reduce public suffering and ensure service delivery with transparency and accountability."
People attending the public hearing expressed satisfaction with the DC's initiative and hope that this practice of listening to people directly and taking swift action will continue.
