Rajshahi people hold protest rally against US–Israel aggression
The peoples of Rajshahi today (March 2) held a protest rally in response of US-Israel aggressions worldwide and recent airstrikes on Iran, in which Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei was killed.
The programme began around 11:00am at Gankapara in the city, organised by Samrajyobad Birodhi Nagorikbrindo, Rajshahi (Anti-Imperialist Citizens, Rajshahi).
Leaders and activists from several political and socio-cultural organisations took part in the demonstration.
Addressing the rally, speakers alleged that the actions of the United States and Israel violate international law, state sovereignty and human rights. They claimed that US-led interventions across the globe undermine independent nations and contribute to instability, citing Iran as an example.
The speakers also criticised what they termed the limited and ineffective role of the United Nations and other international bodies in responding to the situation.
They said war cannot ensure peace and that the use of bombs and missiles primarily harms civilians, particularly women and children, while escalating regional tensions.
The rally concluded with a call for the international community to adopt a firm and effective position to prevent further escalation.
Among those present were Mahabub Siddiqui, president of Heritage Rajshahi District and Sabuj Sanghati Rajshahi; Mahmud Zaman Qaderi, coordinator of the State Reform Movement, Rajshahi District; Prof. Jewel Kibria of Rajshahi College; Alfaz Hossain Juboraj of the Bangladesh Socialist Party, Rajshahi District; Nadim Sina of Ganosamhati Andolon, Rajshahi Metropolitan; Atikur Rahman Atik of Youth Action for Social Change (YASS); and Shamim Parvez of Naya Ganatantrik Gana Morcha.
