Rajshahi sees outpouring joy as Minu made minister

A joyful atmosphere has been created throughout Rajshahi as Rajshahi's son and veteran politician Mizanur Rahman Minu MP has been appointed as the Land Minister of the Bangladesh government.

Ever since his name was announced in the full list of the cabinet on Tuesday, ordinary people and party leaders and activists have been celebrating on the streets and alleys of the city.

A flood of congratulations and wishes have also surrounded him on social media, Facebook. Many people, regardless of party affiliation, posted messages of congratulations to him.

After the Prime Minister and cabinet members were sworn in by President Shahabuddin Chuppu in the afternoon, Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP leaders and activists took out a joyous procession to congratulate Minu. The procession circled various roads in the city.

Locals have commented that Mizanur Rahman Minu's appointment as Land Minister is a matter of pride for the people of Rajshahi.
