Rampal Power Plant goes back into production
Rampal Coal-Fired Thermal Power Plant in Bagerhat returned to production on Thursday after four days of closure due to technical glitch.
The power plant resumed production at 5:30pm, said Anwar-ul Azim, deputy general manager (DGM) of Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company (Pvt. Ltd.) BIFPCL Limited.
Due to coal shortages and mechanical faults, the power generation of the plant is often halted.
Rampal power plant has faced a total of 15 shutdowns within the past one year, with production being halted seven times during the initial nine months of commercial operation.
On Dec 17, 2022, the first unit of the thermal power plant went into production.
The second unit of Rampal thermal power plant has begun trial production in October.
