Rangpur mob victim Ruplal's daughter tying knot

Nupur Rabidas, the daughter of Ruplal Das, who was killed in a mob beating while fixing his daughter's wedding date in Taraganj of Rangpur, is getting married.
While visiting Ruplal's house on Sunday, it was seen that the wedding arrangements were going on in an atmosphere of mourning. Preparations for the wedding pandal, gate, and entertaining relatives were all underway.
Ruplal lost his life while fixing the wedding date of his daughter. Ruplal, a shoe repairman from Taraganj Bazar, and his relative Pradeep Das were beaten to death by a local mob on August 10 on the charge of theft.
Nupur Rabidas, the daughter of the deceased Ruplal, said: "Even though my wedding is being arranged, the pain of losing my father is flowing in my mind. My father's killers are roaming around openly but the police are not arresting them."
"I am moving to another place now. What will happen to our family? This thought is swirling in my mind. My family is suffering from insecurity. If my father's killers were arrested and brought to justice, I would have some peace of mind," she added.
Ruplal's son Joy Rabidas said: "I have to do the entire work of my sister's wedding in absence of my father. I need a lot of money. My maternal uncle is looking after us as a guardian."
Ruplal's wife Bharati said: "My niece's husband Pradeep Rabidas was a man like a guardian of the family. He was called to fix the date and time of Nupur's wedding. But some people beat my husband and Pradeep to death. I am distraught with my young son and daughter. My daughter Nupur's wedding costs a lot of money. We have to go through on loans."
Taraganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Rubel Rana said that Tk100,000 has been given from the Upazila Parishad fund and Tk10,000 from the social service office for Nupur's wedding. In addition, education allowance has been allocated for Nupur's education, widow's allowance for Bharati and a shop for Joylal's business.
On August 10, locals beat up Ruplal Das and Pradeep Das on suspicion of theft in Burirhat Battala of Sayar Union in Taraganj. Both died after being taken to the hospital. Ruplal's wife Bharati Rani filed a murder case against 500-700 people as anonymous accused. Police have arrested six people so far.
