Recent cases are undermining achievement of student movement: Sara Hossain
The cases which were recently filed against Awami League ministers and lawmakers are undermining the hard-won gains of the student movement, said Barrister Sara Hossain.
She said: "These cases are unlikely to hold up in court and may not even pass the initial stages."
Sara, the executive director of the Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST), told a citizen dialogue organised by Civil Reform Group-Bangladesh 2.0 in Dhaka on Saturday.
Slamming the way of filing the cases, she further said: "Different sorts of cases have been observed throughout the last two weeks, while some have 30, 40, or 50 people as accused."
"The people might have anger and frustration on them, but filing cases this way will not work out eventually. But, he cases are putting the movement and its outcome into question," she added.
She further questioned: ""Did the police file these cases? Did they do it honestly? With a clear understanding? Case statement is not a place to vent one's anger."
