All government publicity activities related to the referendum have been suspended until Wednesday following the death of former prime minister and BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

The information was confirmed by Professor Ali Riaz, chief coordinator of public awareness campaigns for the 13th parliamentary election and the referendum, and special assistant to the chief adviser.

Ali Riaz said a state mourning has been declared on Wednesday over the death of BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. For this reason, all government promotional activities related to the referendum have been suspended until Wednesday.

The 13th parliamentary election and the referendum on the implementation of the July National Charter are scheduled to be held on February 12. Ahead of this, the government had been running public awareness campaigns across the country, including launching promotional vehicle services and implementing various programmes through multiple ministries.
