Rehan Asif Asad appointed adviser to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman

Rehan Asif Asad, a prominent native of Godagari Upazila in Rajshahi district, has been appointed as an adviser to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

The appointment was finalised through a notification issued late Tuesday (February 17), by the Ministry of Public Administration.

Born in Kella Barui Para village, Rehan Asif Asad is the son of the late Dr. M. Asaduzzaman, former Chairman and Executive Director of the Barendra Multipurpose Development Authority, and the nephew of the late Barrister Aminul Haque, former Minister of Post and Telecommunications.

The announcement has sparked celebrations across Godagari, with residents and well-wishers extending congratulations on social media.

In another key development, senior Rajshahi politician Mizanur Rahman Minu MP has been appointed as Minister of Land, prompting festive reactions throughout the district.

Supporters and local residents took to the streets following the release of the full cabinet list.

The notification also names Mirza Abbas Uddin Ahmed, Nazrul Islam Khan, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, Md. Ismail Zabiullah, and Dr. Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir as advisers with ministerial rank. Additionaly, Md. Humayun Kabir, Brigadier General (Retd.) Samsul Islam, Dr. Zahedur Rahman, Dr. Mahadi Amin, and Rehan Asif Asad were appointed as advisers with state minister rank.

The notification further assigns key administrative positions within the Prime Minister’s office: Mian Muhammad Ashraf Reza Faridi, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, as Personal Secretary-1; Senior Assistant Secretary Md. Mamun Shibli as Assistant Personal Secretary-1; and Senior Assistant Secretary Uzzal Hossain as Protocol Officer-1.

These appointments will remain in effect for the duration of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s tenure.
