Relative held over rape of 7-years-old girl

Police have detained a man for allegedly raping a seven-year-old child.

Jashore Additional Superintendent of Police Abul Bashar said doctors found evidence of rape on the child's clothes. The child was admitted to the gynecology ward of Jashore General Hospital in a critical condition on Tuesday morning.

The child's condition is currently out of danger. A rape case has been filed with Kotwali Police Station in this incident, he added.

Police said the incident took place in the area adjacent to the Medical College in Jashore city. The accused, Hafizul Islam, 40, used to live in a rented house in that area.

According to police and family sources, the victim child lives in a relative's house in Jashore for studies. On Monday afternoon, accused Hafizul took her to his rented house on the pretext of taking her on a trip. Later, he allegedly raped the girl.

When the child was taken home around 9 pm, she informed her grandmother about the matter. Later around 8 am on Tuesday, when the child's physical condition deteriorated, she was admitted to the hospital.

Police confirmed that the arrested Hafizul Islam was sent to jail through the court.
