Relief Minister falls ill at Saidpur airport
Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu fell ill suddenly at Saidpur Airport in Nilphamari on Saturday (April 11), prompting plans to airlift him to Dhaka for advanced treatment.
According to sources, the minister had travelled from Dhaka to Saidpur in the morning as part of a two-day visit to his home district Lalmonirhat. He reportedly felt dizzy and physically unwell while speaking with party leaders and activists at the airport lounge.
He was immediately taken to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) at Saidpur Cantonment. However, as his condition did not improve, doctors decided to transfer him to Dhaka.
Initially, there were plans to send him on a scheduled flight at 12:10pm, but the arrangement was cancelled due to his deteriorating condition.
An air ambulance has since been arranged, with one already en route from Dhaka to Saidpur. The minister will be flown to the capital upon its arrival.
Nilphamari district BNP President Abdur Gafur Sarkar confirmed the development.
