Reports of Ansar deployment to safeguard Bangabandhu mural baseless: Ansar
Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party has described as baseless and fabricated the reports published in several national dailies regarding the deployment of Ansar members to guard the statue of Sheikh Mujib.
In a press statement issued from the force headquarters on Saturday, December 6, it was stated that the claim of posting Ansar members for the security of the Bangabandhu mural installed at Dhamrai municipal office is completely untrue. The force said it has never deployed Ansar personnel individually at any municipality. The two individuals currently responsible for security in Dhamrai are not Ansar members; rather, they are private security guards appointed during the previous government at a salary of Tk 10,000 per month. Ansar had no involvement in either their recruitment or their duties.
The statement further mentioned that previously, confusion arose among the public regarding irregularities at the Matuail Emergency Child and Maternal Health Institute, because the uniforms of security personnel resembled that of Ansar.
The Ansar force said that publication of such incorrect and sensitive reports creates misunderstandings among the public about the force, which could negatively affect its image and the morale of its members. The force urged all journalists to verify information with the public relations officer of the Ansar and VDP headquarters before publishing any sensitive content.
