Reports of attack on Adviser Rizwana’s convoy not true: Ministry
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has dismissed reports of an attack on Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan’s convoy in Sherpur as false.
In a statement released on Monday, May 26, the ministry clarified that Adviser Rizwana was visiting Sherpur’s Dawdhara Garo Hill tourist center as part of a scheduled programme. After speaking with journalists, she proceeded to inspect a long-term garden area in the Madhutila range.
Later, she held a public meeting in Madhutila where she provided compensation to families affected by elephant attacks and discussed human-elephant conflict and forest conservation. The ministry emphasized that all events were peaceful and no untoward incidents occurred.
A separate verbal dispute reportedly took place later between some journalists and individuals, but this was unrelated to the adviser’s visit.
