Reserved women’s seats election set for May 12, schedule on April 8
The Election Commission has fixed May 12 as the voting date for the reserved women’s seats in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad.
Akhtar Ahmed, senior secretary of the Election Commission, announced the decision at the Election Building in Agargaon on Monday (April 6).
He said the election schedule will be formally declared on April 8, including timelines for nomination submission, scrutiny, and withdrawal.
The 50 reserved women’s seats are allocated proportionately among political parties based on their performance in the 300 general seats in the February 12 national election.
As only elected MPs constitute the voter for these seats, candidates may be elected unopposed if there is a single nominee.
