Reshmi in critical condition as bullet remains in eye

The physical condition of 11-year-old child Reshmi Akhter, who was shot in the eye by terrorists in the Bayezid area of ​​Chattogram, has not improved. According to doctors, the child's condition is very critical and the bullet entered through the eye and is lodged deep in the head.

Professor Dr. Md. Baki Billah, Head of the Neurosurgery and ICU Department of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), said that the child's body is currently almost brain-dead. He is almost unconscious and his blood pressure has also dropped significantly. The medical board has decided not to remove the bullet considering the risk of surgery, as the risk of loss of life may increase if the operation is performed.

The child is currently kept in the CMCH's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and doctors are keeping him under close observation.

The incident took place in the Shaheed Minar Goli area of ​​Raufabad Colony under Bayezid Police Station around 10:45pm last Thursday. There, 4-5 unidentified miscreants shot and killed a young man named Md. Hasan alias Raju. At that time, a bullet fired by the terrorists hit the eye of a pedestrian, child Reshmi.

She was first taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital in a seriously injured condition, later transferred to a private hospital. When his condition deteriorated, he was brought back to CMCH.

According to locals, Reshmi is a fifth-grade student of a local school and the youngest of five siblings. The family said that at the time of the incident, she had left home to buy paan for her mother.
