Restaurant employee stabbed to death over delay in serving tea
A 22-year-old restaurant employee was stabbed to death following a dispute over a delay in serving tea at a Kazirbazar eatery on Sunday morning. Police have arrested a suspect identified as Abbas in connection with the incident.
The victim, Rumon Mia, a resident of Jalalpur, South Surma, was working at Niranjan Ghosh’s restaurant when Abbas arrived around 8:30 AM. Rumon informed him that tea service would be delayed as the restaurant had just opened. This led to a verbal argument, after which Abbas left the premises.
Shortly after, Abbas returned with several accomplices and attacked Rumon, stabbing him before fleeing. The injured employee was rushed to Osmani Medical College Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Restaurant owner Rinjan Ghosh reported that Abbas had verbally abused Rumon over the delay and later returned with others to vandalize the shop and steal cash.
Kotwali Police Inspector Samsul Habib confirmed Abbas’ arrest and said the investigation is ongoing to identify others involved. Relatives of the deceased have arrived, and authorities are questioning the restaurant owner to determine the full circumstances. Early findings suggest the fatal attack stemmed from the dispute over serving tea.
