Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has clarified that the individuals recently deported from Malaysia are not militants. He stated that they were sent back due to visa expiration, not for any militant involvement.

He made these remarks on Sunday (July 6) after visiting the Export Cargo Village at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

He further said, “We are trying to establish communication regarding the claims made by Malaysian police. However, we have not received any official message from the Malaysian government on this matter.”

In response to a journalist's question, the Advisor stated,
“There are no militants in Bangladesh. With your cooperation, we have eradicated militancy. You deserve the most credit. In the past 10 months, have you been able to provide any information on militant activity? Since there are no militants, no such information has surfaced. There was a time when you did, but now, nothing.”

Regarding his visit to the Export Cargo Village, the advisor explained, adding that “Vegetables and fruits under the Department of Agriculture are exported from here. I came to inspect how this export process is being conducted. You’re aware that there was an issue with the National Board of Revenue (NBR) some time ago, which affected the export of vegetables and fruits. This caused losses for some of our exporters.”

He added, “Since our exports are dispatched in advance, the existing cold storage needs to be expanded. The good news is that our new export terminal will have a major advantage—if goods cannot be loaded onto a plane after scanning, they can be stored in the cold storage temporarily. We also plan to enlarge the current cold storage facility. We are thinking about how we can increase exports and expand the range of exportable goods.”
