Riaz named president, Dipak general secretary of RDJAD interim committee
An interim committee of the Rajshahi Division Journalists Association, Dhaka, RDJAD, has been formed, with Ekushey Television’s Riaz Uddin appointed as president and The News journalist Fazlul Haque Shawon as vice-president.
Dipak Deb has been appointed as general secretary, while other members of the executive committee have retained their respective positions in the interim committee.
The committee was formed at a meeting held on Sunday, December 14, at a restaurant in the capital’s Panthapath area. The meeting was presided over by the organisation’s founding president Khairuzzaman Kamal and conducted by General Secretary Dipak Deb.
Executive committee members, including founding general secretary Alamgir Hossain and senior members of the organisation, were present at the meeting.
The interim leadership was formed following the death of elected president Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury and the prolonged absence abroad of vice-president Taimur Faruk Tushar.
The interim committee will work to streamline and strengthen organisational activities and arrange elections within the next four months.
Other office bearers include joint general secretary Jahangir Alam of Khaborer Kagoj, treasurer Maria Salam, bureau chief of Views Bangladesh, organising secretary Rezaul Karim Shamim of Kalbela, office secretary Safiur Rahman, publicity and publication secretary Monorama Akhtar of RTV, and technology and training secretary Ishaq Asif, reporter of Dainik Karatoa. Zahidur Rahman has been appointed culture and welfare secretary.
Executive members include Khairuzzaman Kamal, Sazzad Alam Khan Tapu, Mahmudnabi Chanchal and Salma Afroz.
