Rizvi alleges unauthorized use of BNP’s name to create unrest
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has accused certain groups of exploiting BNP’s name to serve personal interests and create unrest in various offices, including the Income Tax office.
Speaking at a discussion organized by the Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Front in Dhaka, Rizvi said those leading movements under BNP’s banner in government departments are not affiliated with the party. “They are acting for their own benefit,” he added.
Rizvi warned that some individuals are using BNP’s name to establish dominance in different sectors and government offices. He urged BNP members to remain vigilant and noted that Tarique Rahman is taking strict action against such elements.
Highlighting a specific case, Rizvi mentioned an individual allegedly misusing BNP’s name while protesting at the Income Tax Office and attempting to remove the NBR chairman without party approval.
Rizvi also said BNP supports any positive work by the interim government but criticized the 2024 election as a “dummy” poll, citing former Chief Election Commissioner Habibul Awal’s remarks.
Separately, BNP Advisory Council member Zainul Abedin Farroque said the interim government plans to hold national elections before Ramadan, urging no further delays.
