Environment and Forest Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan has firmly rejected the National Citizen Party’s (NCP) assertion that the election will not be held in February, confirming that the polls are scheduled as planned.

Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat on Sunday afternoon, Syeda Rizwana Hasan said, “NCP’s words don’t hold any weight. The election will be held in February.”

She also addressed the recent stone robbery incident in Sylhet, stating that either there was collusion by the local administration or the authorities remained silent. “Action will be taken against the administration responsible,” she assured, adding that a decision would be made soon.

On another note, Syeda Rizwana Hasan announced that work on the Teesta Mega Project with China will commence in January next year. The ten-year initiative aims to combat river erosion, control floods, and ensure water retention during dry seasons.

Responding to questions about the removal of the president’s pictures from overseas missions, she said there is no written directive on the matter, nor has the advisory council discussed it. She clarified that the issue is unrelated to the upcoming election.

“The claim that elections will not be held in February is a political statement. However, as declared by the Chief Advisor, the election will take place next February,” she concluded.
