Road accident claims 2 lives in Gazipur

Two people were dead on the spot when a private car overturned after colliding with a road divider in Chandra Palli Bidhut area on the Dhaka-Tangail highway in the early hours of Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Abu Taher, 57, son of Abdul Quddus hailed from Pachbaria area of Sonaimuri upazila in Noakhali district and Ibrahim, 52, son of Abdul Hai Patwary of Kalyanpur area under Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila.

Shahadat Hossen, officer-in-charge (OC) of Naojore Highway Police Station, confirmed the matter. He said, "Two passengers of a Dhaka-bound private car, carrying five passengers on board, from Gaibandha died on the spot when it [the car] collided with a road divider in the area around 4.00 am this morning."

"Being informed, a team of the police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies. Later, the bodies were sent to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. All the legal procedures are now underway," the OC added.
