BNP and its affiliated organizations have blocked roads and protested in Rangamati demanding withdrawal and reinstatement of Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan's resignation.

The program was held in front of the BNP party office in Kathaltoli of the city at 5pm on Monday. The leaders and activists blocked the road with slogans like 'I will not accept or accept Dipen Dewan's resignation' and 'I will not accept or accept the conspiratorial resignation'. This stopped traffic.

Rangamati District BNP Vice President Saiful Islam Bhutto said that Dipen Dewan's resignation is a big setback in the path of forming a 'Rainbow Nation' with all the hill and Bengali communities. It will also harm BNP's 31-point state structure repair and implementation of its 19-point program.

He also said, 'Dipen Dewan is not physically ill. I have traveled with him in remote areas for a long time, and I have never seen him weak or sick. Some BNP leaders are trying to create instability in the Chittagong Hill Tracts by misleading the Prime Minister and giving false information.’

Senior Vice President of Kaukhali Upazila BNP and Executive Member of District BNP, Sajamong Marma said, ‘The reason given in the resignation letter is not correct. He is physically and mentally capable of running the ministry. He has temporarily submitted his resignation under pressure from those who were nurturing the fascist Awami League after August 5.’

Speakers from the protest rally appealed to the Prime Minister, saying that Dipen Dewan has no alternative to maintaining development and harmony in the Chattogram Hill Tracts regardless of caste, religion and color. His resignation letter should be withdrawn.

Kotwali Police Station Deputy Inspector Main Uddin said, efforts are being made to normalize traffic. The situation is calm.
