Two young men died on the spot after losing control of their motorbike on the elevated expressway in Chattogram city. The accident took place on Friday (November 8) midnight on the lane towards Lalkhan Bazar in the Freeport section of EPZ Thana on the elevated expressway. The deceased have been identified as 28-year-old Md Moktar and 36-year-old Md ruble. Both are residents of Sadarghat area of the city, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of EPZ police station Mohammad Akhtaruzzaman. He said the motorbike probably lost control due to speeding and hit the lamp post, causing the two riders to fall. Both died on the spot. The OC said the matter is being investigated and further legal action is under process.

চট্টগ্রাম নগরীর এলিভেটেড এক্সপ্রেসওয়েতে মোটরবাইক নিয়ন্ত্রণ হারিয়ে দুই যুবক ঘটনাস্থলেই মারা গেছেন। শুক্রবার (৮ নভেম্বর) রাত ১২টার দিকে এলিভেটেড এক্সপ্রেসওয়ের ইপিজেড থানার ফ্রিপোর্ট অংশে লালখান বাজারমুখী লেনে এ দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে। নিহতরা হলেন- ২৮ বছর বয়সী মো. মোক্তার ও ৩৬ বছর বয়সী মো. রুবেল। দুজনই নগরীর সদরঘাট এলাকার বাসিন্দা। ইপিজেড থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) মোহাম্মদ আখতারুজ্জামান এ তথ্য নিশ্চিত করেছেন। তিনি বলেন, এলিভেটেড এক্সপ্রেসওয়ের পতেঙ্গা থেকে লালখান বাজার যেতে ফ্রিপোর্ট এলাকায় এই দুর্ঘটনায় ঘটেছে। ধারণা করছি, মোটরবাইকটি দ্রুত গতিতে আসার কারণে নিয়ন্ত্রণ হারিয়ে সড়কবাতির খুঁটিতে ধাক্কা গেলে দুই আরোহী ছিটকে পড়ে। দুজনই ঘটনাস্থলে মারা গেছেন। একজন খুঁটিতে আটকে ছিল, অন্যজন রাস্তায় ছিটকে পড়েছিল। ওসি বলেন, বিষয়টি তদন্ত করে দেখছি এবং পরবর্তী আইনানুগ ব্যবস্থা পক্রিয়াধীন।
