Road Safety Alliance launches week-long awareness programme

Road Safety Alliance, Bangladesh has launched a week-long program in the capital from Monday to create awareness for safe roads.
Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Chairman Noor Mohammad Majumder inaugurated the programme by distributing awareness pamphlets among drivers and pedestrians in Banani of the capital.
He said that BRTA has been regularly carrying out public awareness programmes to build safe roads. "The BRTA has made its customer services easier and faster. BRTA has made services smart for its customers. The more customers know about these things, the easier they will get service."
Calling on the drivers to follow the law on the road, he said: "We are celebrating the National Safe Road Day with the slogan 'Let's follow the law, build a smart Bangladesh'. Apart from various government programmes, private development organizations are also working for safe roads."
"There is no alternative to create awareness among people to control the deaths on roads".
During the event, the workers of 25 organizations of Road Safety Alliance conducted an awareness campaign among pedestrians and drivers in Banani and Kakali areas from 1:30 pm.
Earlier, the coordinator of the organization, journalist Partha Sarathi Das gave a welcome speech at the opening ceremony. BRTA Director (Administration) Md Azizul Islam, Director (Road Safety) Sheikh Mohammad Mahbub-e-Rabbani were present on the occasion.
Chairman of Road Safety Alliance Bangladesh Noor Nabi Shimu, Director of Alliance Khan Mohammad Babul and General Secretary Noor e Alam, Director of Road Safety Alliance Shaheen Hossain Molla, Director Anwar Hossain Anu, Nazmul Islam, Engineer Abul Hossain, spoke at the opening ceremony.
