Robbers demand Hadiya money from Islamic preacher in Narayanganj

Robbers attacked the car of Islamic preacher Mufti Habibullah Siddiqi while he was returning from a Waz Mahfil in Araihaazar of Narayanganj, demanding money collected as Hadiya (offerings).

The incident took place at Kallyandi Mor in Mahmudpur Union in the early hours of Thursday (January 8).

A group of armed robbers stopped the vehicle, vandalised it, and attacked the preacher’s associates with sharp weapons. Two people-Al Amin Mia, a collaborator of the preacher, and the car driver Saiful Islam-were injured in this incident, while Mufti Habibullah remained unharmed. Both were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.

According to locals, the robbers seized three mobile phones and Tk 45,000 in cash after threatening the victims.

The attackers fled the scene after getting Hadiya money, confirmed police.

Mohammad Alauddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Araihaazar Police Station, said, "Authorities had inspected the site and are working to identify and arrest the suspects."
