Robbers snatch Tk 55 lakh from Nagad official in Jashore
Armed robbers snatched Tk 55 lakh from a Nagad official in broad daylight at Kuada Jamtala intersection on the Monirampur road in Jashore on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred around 9:00 AM when Rabiul Islam, a manager at Nagad's Jashore branch, was transporting the money to the company’s Monirampur sub-office.
According to initial reports, Rabiul had collected the cash from Nagad Jashore’s accountant, Kazi Mominur Islam, and was heading to deliver it to sub-office official Abu Sajid. He was travelling in a private car driven by Mohammad Saju, a resident of the city's Post Office Para. The vehicle’s registration number is Dhaka Metro-G 15-5923.
Upon reaching Jamtala intersection, a group of unidentified assailants on motorcycles intercepted the car, smashed the windows, physically assaulted Rabiul, and forcibly took the bag containing the money.
Rabiul, the son of Jalal Uddin from Bhaturia Hafez Para in Jashore, sustained minor injuries in the attack. He stated that the car was also damaged during the assault. He is preparing to take legal action regarding the incident.
Following the robbery, the Officer-in-Charge of Monirampur Police Station, along with a team from the District Detective Branch, visited the scene and have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the culprits.
