‘Robot Dog’ goes viral, BGB says it’s a light-fitted bicycle

A video of a 'robot'-like object being seen on a CCTV camera late at night in Milni Bazar, a border market in Bhurungamari Upazila of Kurigram, has gone viral on Facebook. This has created curiosity and panic in the area.

In the video, recorded at around 3:35am on Tuesday, an object with lights on is seen moving at a fast pace. Many claim that it is a four-legged robot. The scene was captured on a CCTV camera of a shop in the market.

However, after investigation, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) said that it is not a robot; it was a bicycle with straight handles, with small lights on both wheels and a headlight in front. Since the video is unclear due to low resolution, it may seem like a robot.

The BGB also said that it is investigating whether the video has been edited or not. The CCTV camera and memory card will be taken into police custody for forensic examination.

Mahbub Ul Haque, commander of Kurigram 22 BGB Battalion, said, "Initially, it appears to be a bicycle. There is no possibility of a robot coming to the area."
