A Rohingya child has died with measles symptoms in the Ukhiya Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar. The name of the deceased child was not known at the time of filing the report.

Dr. Shantanu Ghosh, Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital, confirmed the truth and said that the child was admitted to the hospital by his parents with several complex symptoms including fever, cough and pneumonia on Saturday afternoon. Immediately after admission, samples were collected to check the possibility of measles and sent to Dhaka for testing.

However, as his physical condition continued to deteriorate, the child died in the hospital on the same evening.

The deceased child was 9 months old. His father is a resident of the Ukhiya Rohingya camp. This is the first case of a Rohingya child dying with measles symptoms. However, as the results of the sample test are not yet available, it is not possible to confirm whether the child died of measles or not, said Dr. Shantanu Ghosh.
