Rohingya teenager loses leg in landmine blast at Ukhiya border

A Rohingya teenager lost his leg in a landmine explosion near the Naf River zero line in Ukhiya of Cox's Bazar on Sunday afternoon.

The injured, Abdul Hakim (15), is a resident of Balukhali Camp-19.

According to locals and the Border Guard Bangladesh, landmines were planted in newly emerged chars in the Naf River area by the Arakan Army.

The explosion occurred when the boy stepped on a mine while fishing, severing his right foot and causing severe injuries. He was first taken to Kutupalong MSF hospital and later transferred to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.

Lieutenant Colonel Md. Zahidul Islam confirmed the incident.
