Rohingya woman commits suicide in Ukhia camp

A Rohingya woman committed suicide by consuming poison due to a family dispute in the Ukhia Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar.

The incident took place around 12.00 noon on Saturday (July 12) in her shelter.

The deceased woman's name is Musana, 22, wife of Md Ullah, a resident of B-4 block of Ukhia Rohingya Camp-1 West.

According to local sources and initial information from the police, Musana consumed pesticide poison at home during an argument with her husband Md Ullah. After being realised the matter, her family members rushed her to the hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.

Confirming the matter, Ukhia Police Station OC Muhammad Arif Hossain said, "A Rohingya woman committed suicide by consuming poison due to a family dispute. The body has been recovered and legal action is underway regarding the matter."
