There was an attack on eminent actor Rokeya Prachi at No. 32 of Dhanmondi in the capital, carried out allegedly by a group of BNP men.
A group of cultural activists led by Rokeya Prachi lit lamps at Dhanmondi No. 32 on Wednesday (August 14) evening, on the occasion of mourning day.
Witnesses said at that time, a group of 30-35 people came with sticks and attacked Rokeya, injuring her seriously.
Witnesses said Rokeya went to Dhanmondi 32 as part of a pre-announced programme. Around 70-80 cultural activists joined Rokeya. In the evening, 30-35 youths came to the lamp lighting ceremony, carrying sticks in their hands. They forced everyone to leave the place with threats. Then they vandalized Bangabandhu's portrait. When Rokeya Prachi tried to fix it, the youths started beating her with sticks. The actor at one time collapsed with one hit after another. Later, she was quickly rescued by his co-stars and taken out.
