Romantic before being caught: Taheri

Islamic preacher Maulana Gias Uddin Taheri has commented on the viral circulation of videos on social media purportedly showing private moments involving Jamaat-e-Islami lawmaker Gazi Nazrul Islam, who represents the Satkhira-4 constituency.
Speaking at a recent religious gathering, Taheri said, "Before being caught, they act romantic; after being caught, they say, 'She's my wife.' This reflects a distorted mentality."

He further alleged that following the release of the videos, attempts were made to dismiss them as either AI-generated or related to a second marriage, describing such explanations as "falsehoods."

Calling on the authorities to conduct a fair investigation, Taheri said, "Carry out a proper investigation. This is an opportunity to expose those who are spreading falsehoods."

In his remarks, he also alleged that some people preach religion but fail to practice its principles. Referring to Gazi Nazrul Islam's campaign messaging on purdah (Islamic modesty) during the election, Taheri criticized what he described as a contradiction between the MP's public stance and alleged conduct.

Several videos purportedly showing private moments involving Gazi Nazrul Islam have recently circulated widely on social media, sparking extensive public discussion and criticism. However, the authenticity of the videos has not been independently verified, and no official authority has confirmed whether the footage is genuine or AI-generated.
