RU Officers’ Association suspends shutdown for seven days

The Officers’ Association at Rajshahi University (RU) has suspended its ongoing shutdown programme for seven working days following assurances from the university administration to address their demands.

The announcement came in a joint statement signed by Association President Md. Moktar Hossain and Treasurer Md. Masud Rana on Wednesday afternoon (September 24).

The decision followed an emergency meeting with representatives from officers, assistants, general staff, and transport workers’ associations.

The suspension was based on commitments made during a dialogue with the administration on Tuesday, where officials pledged to meet the association’s demands promptly.

President Moktar Hossain said the decision to pause the protest was taken in good faith, but the administration has been given a seven-day ultimatum. “We expect our demands to be implemented within this period. Otherwise, we will announce stronger programmes after seven days,” he warned.
