RU student found dead in university dorm

A student of Rajshahi University was found dead inside his room at Shaheed Shamsuzzoha Hall on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased is Fuad Al Khatib, a 2017-18 academic year student of the Social Work Department of the university, and son of Aminul Islam of Paschim Rajibpur village under Sundarganj upazila in Gaibandha.

Residential students said that Fuad returned to his university dorm early Sunday after he attended government primary school assistant teacher recruitment test on Friday at his native village.

Since his return, classmates could not reach Fuad over the phone, so they went to his room at about 3:00pm. They found him unconscious on the bed and rushed Fuad to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Witnesses said that Fuad was bleeding from his mouth while his chest and his face turned blue.

Ekramul Islam, provost of Shaheed Shamsuzzoha Hall, said that physicians at the hospital told them that Fuad might have died three to four hours ago.

‘The exact cause of his death is not known. The body is kept at the hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination,’ he added.
