Rumeen Farhana wants own name as main accused if case filed

Barrister Rumeen Farhana, member of parliament for Brahmanbaria-2 constituency, has said that if any case is filed over the altercation with Sarail Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Monjur Kader Bhuiyan, her name should be included as the main accused.

Personal assistant of Rumeen Farhana, Zakir Hossain, supplied her written statement on this to journalists on Saturday (October 24). She gave this statement after news of filing a police general diary (GD) over the altercation with the OC spread.

In the written statement Rumeen Farhana has said that she submitted a written complaint against the Sarail Thana OC to the district police superintendent on October 23. Respecting the administration, she is waiting to see what kind of departmental action is taken against the OC. She has also said that she will announce the next programme if the administration does not take proper measures.

Earlier on Thursday night Rumeen Farhana got involved in an altercation with OC Monjur Kader Bhuiyan at the Sarail Thana building. Arguments took place between them over irregularities and corruption and not getting police security during the inspection of Durga Puja mandaps.

At that time a person who came with Rumeen Farhana alleged that the OC had taken Tk 30,000 as bribe from him. However, the OC denied the allegation of taking bribe. He also commented that Rumin Farhana had coached that person and brought him to the thana.

At one stage of the altercation Rumin Farhana told OC Monjur Kader Bhuiyan, “You were a big Awami League. I know your history sir. Anyway, I have no headache about that.”
