Rumin Farhana alleges bias by UNO
Independent candidate Barrister Rumin Farhana has accused Brahmanbaria's Sarail Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Assistant Returning Officer, Md. Abubakar Sarkar, of biased behaviour.
A few hours after lodging the complaint on Thursday, February 5, she sent a strong message to the administration from an election rally in her area that night.
In her complaint to the Chief Election Commissioner, Rumin Farhana, who is contesting from Brahmanbaria-2 (Sarail-Ashuganj-two unions of Bijoynagar) constituency, mentioned that serious irregularities concerning the 13th National Parliament election and national referendum are being observed in her electoral area. When she tried to draw the UNO's attention to this matter to inquire about the measures being taken, he behaved discourteously and uncooperatively.
In the complaint, the leader, who was expelled from the BNP, further stated that she fears a fair vote will not be held in Sarail upazila due to the UNO's biased behaviour. Noting that complaints have already been filed with the ACC against the UNO, she requested that the complaint be considered seriously and effective action be taken promptly.
