Russian citizen found dead at Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant housing

Police have recovered the body of a Russian citizen from a residential building at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant’s Green City housing complex in Ishwardi of Pabna.

The body of Rybakov Maksim, 30, an employee of Atomstroyexport, was found on Sunday (January 4) in Room 31 on the third floor of Residential Building No. 8, according to police and local sources.

Maksim’s roommate, Frolov, also a Russian citizen, returned to the apartment on Sunday morning after spending his holiday in Cox’s Bazar and discovered Maksim lying motionless on the floor. He immediately informed the authorities.

Following the report, the company’s security team, a Russian physician and police from Ishwardi Police Station arrived at the scene. A preliminary inquiry was conducted as part of legal procedures.

Initial findings suggest the death may have been caused by a stroke.

Md Mominuzzaman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ishwardi Police Station, said the body was sent to Pabna General Hospital morgue for autopsy. After completion of legal formalities, the body was handed over to the concerned company.

"Arrangements will be made to repatriate the body to Russia through the embassy," he added.
