Russian national found dead at Rooppur Nuclear Power Project site in Pabna

A Russian national working at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project has been found dead under unclear circumstances in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna.

The deceased was identified as Latipov Vil, 42, a Russian citizen employed with Rosenergoatom, a contractor involved in the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project, police confirmed.

His body has been recovered on Tuesday (May 26) around 8:00pm at Unit 84 on the 8th floor of Building 21 in the Green City residential area within the project zone.

According to local sources, colleagues found him unresponsive inside his room and immediately informed the authorities. A doctor later arrived at the scene and declared him dead. However, the exact cause of death has not yet been determined.

Md. Ashadur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Iswardi Police Station, said, "Police visited the scene following the report. After completing legal formalities, the body was sent for autopsy and a inquest report was prepared."

"An investigation into this matter is underway to determine the actual cause of death," the OC added.
