Sadapathar tourist center closed due to adverse effects of landslides

Sadapathar tourist center in Companiganj upazila of Sylhet has been closed indefinitely due to the adverse effects of continuous rains and landslides coming down from the upstream.

Companiganj Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Md. Robin Mia confirmed the matter on Sunday (June 21).

UNO Md. Robin Mia said that shops around the tourist center have been submerged in water due to the landslides. This decision has been taken considering the safety of tourists as this has created a risky situation in the entire area.

He said that tourists have been prevented from going to Sadapathar until the situation normalizes. A decision will be taken to reopen the tourist center when the current decreases and the weather stabilizes.

The upazila administration informed that the closure has been announced as a precautionary measure to avoid any kind of accident in the current disaster situation.

Incidentally, thousands of tourists from different parts of the country visit the border tourist center of Sadapathar every day.
