Sajeeb Wazed Joy mourns Khaleda Zia's death
BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia has expressed deep shock and condolences over the death of Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
In a condolence message on Tuesday, he expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family members. He said that at this critical time in the country—when the common people are suffering from insecurity and there are attempts to destabilize and depoliticize the country—the death of Begum Khaleda Zia will have a profound impact on Bangladesh's path to progress.
In his condolence message, Sajeeb Wazed Joy mentioned that despite being a victim of various depoliticization processes in the past, Begum Khaleda Zia has achieved numerous successes in her long political life and has played a role in setting important policies for the country. Her contribution to nation building will be remembered forever.
He also said that her death is a big setback in the efforts to stabilize Bangladesh at the present time. At the same time, he also expressed his sincere condolences to Begum Khaleda Zia's numerous supporters and well-wishers.
Bangladesh's first female Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia died at 6 am on Tuesday while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. She was 80.
Khaleda Zia was rushed to the hospital on November 23 due to worsening breathing problems. Earlier, on November 21, she felt uneasy while getting into the car while leaving to attend the Armed Forces Day ceremony. For many years, Khaleda Zia had been suffering from various complications including liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes, kidney, lung and eye problems.
