BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has urged the government to clarify the agenda of the February meeting between interim Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus and Chief Election Commissioner A.M.M. Nasir Uddin, which is believed to have focused on the upcoming national election.

Speaking to reporters at his Gulshan residence on Friday, Salahuddin said BNP assumes election preparations were discussed and expressed confidence that necessary steps can be completed by mid-September.

He added, “It appears the Chief Adviser conveyed to the CEC the expectation of holding elections in February, but this is yet to be confirmed from both sides.”

Regarding local government polls, Salahuddin ruled out the possibility of holding them before the national elections. “All political parties agree on this. Therefore, holding local elections within the current schedule is unrealistic,” he said.
